Coffee with Krisstina?
Many have asked me, “What IS Coffee with Krisstina?” So, if you are here and don’t exactly know why, allow me to give you some insight into what CwK is and what we have planned for you.
First, let me explain who I am. I have been in real estate most of my adult life. I have been recognized as one of the industry’s top real estate agents for over 10 years during the time I worked for one of the “Big Box” brands. Four years ago I left the “Big Box” to open my own Independent Brokerage, called GoodLife Team, with the ambition to create a better way—a better brokerage—a higher bar.
GoodLife Team was conceived while the sub-prime market was crashing, our economy was spiraling downwards quickly towards a recession and the bottom was dropping out of the real estate industry. In hindsight, it was probably crazy to start a new real estate brokerage during this time. But, in spite of the market—less than 4 years later—GoodLife Team is recognized in Austin as one of the top independent brokerages in town. We have been featured in over 30 publications. We won the Inman Innovator of the Year Award in 2010 for most innovative brokerage, and now we are being claimed to have reinvented the brokerage model with a new strategy, new practices and some kick-ass technology, all of which has enabled us to grow and thrive in the worst real estate market of our time.
After winning the Inman Award last year, our office started getting phone calls and emails from brokers and agents all over the country. Our customer response team spoke to many of these agents and brokers, and the conversation on these calls went something like this,
“Hi, I’m an Agent from Somewhereville, USA, and I’ll be in Austin for a few days next month. I wanted to see if I could have Coffee with Krisstina and pick her brain about a few things GoodLife team is doing to learn how I can do them in my business….”.
At first it was one a week. Over time it started happening almost every day. It then became a running joke in the office about how popular I was with all the requests for coffee dates! At some point the light bulb came on and my team and I realized that while I couldn’t have coffee with each person, I could host a “virtual coffee date, monthly, to satisfy these requests and create a new way for us to teach, learn, and collaborate with our new friends.
What Coffee With Krisstina Is Not
There are many gurus to learn from in this industry, and there are many places from which to seek knowledge. But, what I notice is that most of those teaching to the industry are not practitioners. They are not doing what they are teaching. And, as a result, many agents are following and/or writing checks; many looking for that magic bullet that will bring their business back to the way it was. Or, to a place they wish it to be.
Coffee with Krisstina is not that. We are not claiming to be gurus. We haven’t left the real estate industry to teach social media, blogging or any other “magic bullet” topic. GoodLife Team IS in the real estate business. That IS what we do. Everyday we have the same concerns as you—finding, converting and serving buyers and sellers of homes. That’s it. That’s what we do. Everyday.
What Coffee With Krisstina Is
Coffee with Krisstina is the place I will share trends, ideas, practices, tools and technologies that are working for us successfully at GoodLife Team. Our goal at GoodLife Team is to be the best in Austin, and to succeed in this digital age by reinventing the old ways into new practices and tools that enable us to continue to grow and prosper. Think of us as your lab, testing what works and what doesn’t work. What tools to use, what practices are effective and what vendors in the industry ‘get it’. And then, we will share it all with you. So that together—through a collaborative community and culture, we can raise the bar of the industry by committing to be a better real estate business that serves the consumer.
